We meet at 10.30am at The Bank (outside the Royal Exchange, Threadneedle Street – under equestrian statue of Wellington – top left).   Nearest tube is Bank (Northern & Central lines) or walk from Cannon Street Station (District & Circle lines).    During our wander through the streets of London and also Covent Garden, we will delve into the history of Freemasonry, its origins, its famous members, its successes and scandals, the myths and much more……..   (and enjoy a pint or two…..).  There is a half time pub stop.                       

The City of London Tour includes:

  • The site of the original Grand Lodge – formed in 1717
  • Worshipful Company of Masons - Freemasons & the Royal Society
  • Masonic links to the Bank of England
  • Elias Ashmole – the first English mason?
  • Grand Masters & scandals……..(surely not!)
  • St Paul’s Cathedral and its Masonic links.
  • The Old Bailey - Masons & Murder..... goodies AND baddies!
  • The Temple - the site of Knights Templar initiation ceremonies
  • The location of the lodge of the Mason tortured by the Inquisition
  • Masonry & Mutiny on the Bounty

Friends, family, ladies, children & potential Masons welcome.  

The walk is about four miles - wear comfortable shoes!   

Slow pace, with plenty of stops. 

The walk ends at Great Queen Street around 1.15pm.

Price is £15 per head. Payable in advance. Place is not secured until payment is made.
